Story

4 years ago today (28.01.2013) In the space of 15minutes I went from being in the best shape of my life to being given a less than 50/50 chance of survival, where my life depended on the Great North Air Ambulance getting to me in a matter of minutes. Thankfully they did.

Every year since, I have said that I would try to repay them in whatever way I could, despite knowing nothing ever will. But all I can do is try.

In 1year alone the 3 air ambulances in operation are called out over 1000 times at an average cost of £2500 each time, meaning not only do I, my friends and family forever owe them for 4 more years of memories, but i also feel morally indebted to them to a significant financial level.

As such, this year on the 6th may I will be doing my first ever 'Tough Mudder' (and charity event full stop), with all the money raised going to the Great North air ambulance.

It's a 5mile course with 13 gruelling but fun obstacles that will push me and the team I'm building to (but hopefully not over) the limit.

I chose the charity and event for three main reasons:
1. Because without them I simply wouldn't be here.
2. To challenge myself to become fitter than ever, both mentally and physically. Proving to myself and everyone else that you can always bounce back stronger.
3. And most importantly, to raise enough money to cover the costs of one more life saving mission and repay the moral debt i owe.

Any donations will be truly appreciated no matter how small, and please feel free to share the link and raise awareness.

Finally, to the numerous sports centre staff who put themselves at risk providing first aid and applying pressure to the 16 wounds, raised the alarm and bravely prevented further casualties; to the paramedics first on scene, the air ambulance crew without whom I simply wouldn't be here, the armed police who secured the scene, and the countless nurses doctors and surgeons who spent 13hours piecing me back together; thank you.
