Story
In 2017, I had a cycle accident when I was cycling uphill at around 20mph. Because of the extent of my injuries, (6 broken ribs, fractured clavicle, fractured skull, punctured lung) it is thought I was hit by something like a deer, as it was too much for falling off on my own. There was no damage to my bike, and I didn’t hit anything, and no cars were involved. Luckily for me, people were outside in their gardens, heard the crash and phoned the emergency services and came to help.
I had not one, but both air ambulances sent out to me, and after sedation I was airlifted to the LGI and was hospitalised for 9 weeks. This will be shown on Helicopter ER on 30th July, which is almost a year to the day I was discharged from hospital.
My rescue will have cost £6000 to YAA, so this is the target I have set myself. With family, friends and colleagues (plus collecting during the TdY), I have managed to get just over halfway, so a further £3000 to go.
