Story

I’ve taken on the challenge of the London Marathon this year for several reasons, I’ve never been able to run for more than 5 minutes let alone 26.2 miles. I have always been inspired by my friends son Archie Hill and his family. The positivity they show towards dealing with the daily challenges is incredible. Sadly Archie sufferers from a rare life limiting muscle wasting condition called Duchenne & he sadly lost the mobility to walk in his teens & life expectancy in only into his mid twenties.

I have the choice to run and put my body through this but Archie doesn’t, he has no idea of what it feels like to run or even walk & the daily challenges that we all take for granted in time will be to difficult for him, simple tasks of brushing his teeth will soon become too difficult. He’ll need all the support & care from his family which will be a huge strain on them all. .

I carry Archie in my thoughts at every run, especially when I need to find that extra strength to get through the tough training runs and reach those miles.

The last 2 and half years has been hard for us all, and the charity sector is no exception. They need every penny they can get at the moment to help continue the great work they carry out in whatever area of society or specialism they work in.

MDUK and Archie needs my support, which means I am respectfully going to ask for your support. However small the contribution, it all counts. It helps to motivate and ensure I carry this through and together we can help make a small difference to the families including the Hill family and individuals who have to face the challenge of living with Muscular Dystrophy.

As always, I thank you all in advance for all the encouragement & support you have & will be giving me, it means so much.
