Once upon a time we ran together with a run club, then we decided to go it alone and have never looked back :)
There’s not just the two of us running, an unwelcome guest will be tagging along - Boris the Brain Tumour.
I (Hannah) was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour in November 2020, grade 4 glioblastoma and have undergone life changing surgery, radiotherapy and ongoing chemotherapy. Being diagnosed with a terminal illness with a life expectancy of 12-18 months is devastating. But I’ve made it to the 5% that survive past 18 months.
Getting back to running has been a massive part of my rehab physically and mentally, and my running pals that have supported me along the way from the beginning have been amazing.
As has the continued support I have received from Brain Tumour Research since day one.
Approximately 16,000 people are diagnosed with a brain tumour in the UK every year and there are estimated to be over 60,000 people living with a brain tumour.
Brain tumours are indiscriminate; they can affect anyone at any age. What’s more, they kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer... yet historically just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.
