Gary, Merv & Steve are taking part in the 2022 Baggies Bike
Challenge to raise funds for the Albion Foundation.
Whilst Merv & Steve are used to cycling (but definitely not 180 miles!) this will be not only be Gary's first event but also his first time on a road bike, and we have have left ourselves just 10 weeks to prepare!
Our challenge is to cycle 180 miles in just over 2 days .
We depart Fulham FC’s Craven Cottage late afternoon on Sunday 13th March and then cycle the 180 miles to the Hawthorns arriving in time for the evening fixture between the two clubs on Tuesday 15th.
So why are we doing it:
The Albion Foundations goal is to deliver 10 million hours and make a difference to 100,000 lives, in the next 10 years.
The Albion Foundation runs a number of initiatives in support of the local community, including Alzheimer’s cafes, food parcel deliveries, educational initiatives in schools to help those that are struggling to achieve, mentoring and improving attainment with children in care or foster homes, opening up opportunities in disability sport, running sports initiatives in anti-social hot-spots and supporting sports development for girls. The Foundation went above and beyond during the pandemic: 110,000 food parcels delivered, 10,500 phone calls made by ex-players to the elderly and over 7,000 educational sessions delivered!
