We provide hospice care in Worcestershire to give people the best quality of life

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

During lockdown I have been desperately seeking a way of helping out and 'giving' something to those in need (financially). It's given me a lot of time to think about the things in my life that I am so thankful for (family, friends, the place in which I live, having a job etc.). It's also given me a lot of time to think about people I miss, whether that be because they are no longer here or because social distancing and vulnerabilities make it impossible to spend time with them.

Daily exercise has been my medicine and I wanted to set myself a challenge for May. I was confident that I could run 100km in the month and I aimed to surpass this and keep going until my legs told me to stop and slow down. I ran over 100 miles. More significantly was reaching 128km (the distance from my house to the hospice in Worcestershire). Throughout the month of June, I will aim to run another 128km (the distance back from Worcestershire to my house).

I will not be setting myself a goal in terms of the time taken for each run. I will be completing this challenge with my 8 year old spaniel and she loves to dawdle, having several toilet pit stops and chase birds. This can take away from the focus, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

For those that know me, you'll know that going back over 2 years ago, I lost one of my dearest friends. St Richard's Hospice took such great care of Em and I always want to be able to give back to them to thank them for considering her and her family's needs during her most difficult times.

Social distancing will mean that I will be sticking to routes close to my home when completing this challenge, but I am so lucky to live surrounded by beautiful running routes.
