Story
Want to join me in supporting a good cause? I'm raising money for The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust and your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate a little or a lot. Anything helps. Thank you for your support. I've included information about The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust and my own story below.
Ectopic Pregnancy is a common, life threatening condition. I’m fact it’s the leading cause of death in early pregnancies. It affects 1 in 80 pregnancies in the UK and women who suffer have to face the physical trauma of major invasive treatment, the impact on their fertility and the horror of losing their baby and facing their own mortality quickly and unexpectedly.
My story: (written on 7/10/19)
Today has been hard.
6 years ago today I was admitted to hospital after a suspected miscarriage quickly became a medical emergency. I had a ruptured ectopic pregnancy and needed surgery. The physical pain was temporary and there’s some good drugs out there to take the edge off, the mental pain however is a different story entirely and I don’t think I will ever fully get over it.
Every year on the 7th October I find myself in a horrible funk, grieving for what could have been yet also filled with a deep sense of relief for the exact same reason. It sucks.
This year I have decided to try and turn my experience into something positive, I know, it’s been a long time coming.
I will be supporting The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust with their #EPT1000 campaign, to try and raise vital funds for a charity that is close to my heart - or should that be one remaining tube?
Anyway, the idea is to complete 1000miles in a year (walking running swimming etc) and I’ll be starting as soon as I received my fundraising pack in the post and I have set myself a personal challenge of completing it as quickly as I can... (And yes, I will be doing a sponsored wangathon* with Alfie!**)
*NB: We call our ball launching device The Wanger
**PS: That’s my best friend, he’s a little terrier with big ears and an even bigger heart 💙:
