Thanks for taking the time to visit one of the two JustGiving pages which we have set up in memory of Richard (Dick) Hails.

Sadly, following a routine blood test, in January 2019, our dear dad, grandad, husband was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. He fought so very hard, but it was a very tough battle, and just 6 short months after diagnosis he passed away. 

Dad was a HGV mechanic by trade, and he set up his own successful business. He loved his work, clay pigeon shooting, motorbikes, gardening, but most of all he loved his family. He was a great man, he was always willing to give advice, he loved to talk, and he loved to laugh and have a joke. 

Dad will be dearly missed, he was loved and respected by so many people. We hope that he will live on through his family, and that people will remember him fondly.

Unfortunately 10 weeks of dads final 6 months were spent on Somersham Ward at Ipswich hospital. However the care and support given to dad and our family, by the staff and the ward, whilst he was on the ward, was invaluable. We would like to fundraise in his memory, to give something back to ward, so that they can continue to provide care and support to other families in need when their loved ones are struggling to fight cancer.
