Story
Our youngest little man Harry, a true warrior and the most amazing character. As many of you will know, Harry was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in August 2020 after being taken very poorly. The amazing doctors and nurses at Bath Royal United Hospital told us that we got him to them just in time!
He’s been a huge inspiration to me with how he stays so cheery and deals with the many highs and lows of this horrible condition, better than any 3 year old should have to. The technology to allow management of the condition is phenomenal and improving all the time, however it still requires 24 hour management and that takes its toll on us all!
I hope and pray that in his lifetime there might be a full cure and that’s why I’ve been wanting to do something to raise money for the main T1D charity for infants @jdrf_uk .
Studies have shown that normal fasting blood glucose levels are considered to be 83mg/dl. In 2022 I will therefore be aiming to run 83 miles each month, which will amount to 996 miles over the year. This is going to be a big challenge for me both physically and mentally, especially being a dad of 3 young boys, with a demanding full time job, and carrying more than a few extra pounds!
The hope is that I can raise as much money as possible for this special cause over the year, however as a minimum I’d like to raise £996, so £1 for each mile I’ll be running.
I’ll be documenting my progress throughout the year, along with spreading awareness of T1D.
Thanks in advance for any support and donations, which are greatly appreciated 👍🏻
