Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Most of us motor along through life but, occasionally, a
curve ball is thrown at us from nowhere that we didn’t see coming at all!
My partner of 14 years has been diagnosed with lung cancer despite her having lead a healthy and active lifestyle and having never smoked.
I wondered as to what else could I do, apart from giving her
my full help, time and support, which may help benefit other sufferers and their families and friends?
After us having regularly attended the Oncology Unit at the
Churchill Hospital in Oxford, we wondered what the lovely building opposite the Unit was. Walking through what we found to be the Oxford Maggie’s Centre, we found a haven of peace and friendliness for all cancer sufferers and their families/friends.
So different from the stark and clinical hospital opposite that we had just exited!
I decided that Maggie’s Oxford was to be the charity that
was to have my support. ❤☺️
I am the average middle aged man who does little or no
exercise and has the body to show for it! This had to change I decided.
Maggie’s are organising a 50 mile bike ride from Maggie’s
Oxford to Maggie’s Cheltenham on Sunday 30th April 2017 and I have
booked on to take part in it! 🏁 🚴🏻
In January, I started my training regime and expect to
finish the distance but, this is where I need your help and support to ensure that I complete the challenge and that my fitness is not the only beneficiary.
As a guide, £15 could pay for one person to attend a nutrition workshop to help them eat better and feel better during cancer treatment. £40 could pay for an hour with a benefits advisor to help someone access financial support they might be eligible for, and £62 will pay for Maggie’s to supply an hour of psychological support for a cancer sufferer or another affected person. If I can raise at least £1,000 for the Oxford Maggie’s Centre, then other persons like my partner and her family and friends, will benefit further.
Please help support me to reach my target by donating
however much you can afford to 👍
Thank you for your kind support,
Brian
