Story

Everyone close to Christine will be aware she had bravely lived with cancer for four years, and in that time continued to enjoy life to the fullest.

A much-loved and respected English and Drama teacher throughout her career, Christine was talented beyond measure when it came to developing, encouraging and setting alight pupils' imaginations through her command of the English language. It is near impossible to convey in words how much she'd devoted her love and happiness to ensuring her husband Christopher, her son Andrew, and daughter, Angela were well looked after. She was also immensely proud to see her grandchildren embarking on life's journey, wrapped in her love and protection.

Despite her illness she never despaired but did her level best to spare those around her from having to share the worst of the ordeals she so bravely endured. So much so that even her close family and many friends had no idea that precious time was running out. Despite recently finding it difficult to keep food down, she insisted that she waited to speak with her doctor at a routine appointment on 6th February. There, Christine was instantly admitted to Clatterbridge hospital and fluids helped her energy return. She even brightly told a Tommy Cooper gag from her hospital bed, given strength being surrounded by her loving family. She also never lost her faith in God, or the hope that she would 'get through this'. We were all convinced she would be coming home as soon as she recovered. But, ultimately, although Christine's spirit would have fought to stay with us forever, the burden of cancer became too much for her body. Courageous and selfless to the very end, beautiful Christine slipped quietly away just three days later surrounded by her husband, son, daughter, daughter-in-law and son-in-law (to be) on 9th of February. Her loss means life for the Johnson family will never ever be the same again but with precious memories to dearly cherish.

Respectfully, we request "family flowers only" at her funeral on 24th February 2017.

Amongst other charities, Christine regularly supported The British Red Cross and should anyone wish to offer a donation in her name we would be very grateful.

With love at this time of sorrow,

Christine's loving family xxx
