Story
In 1989 my father died of cancer. He was 32 and I was 6 years old. Without wanting to do too much of a sob story (although this is a bid to try and part you with your money), no one single event has had a bigger impact on my life. I cannot put into words how totally lost I felt then and how much it has affected me.
My father's cancer was Hodgkin's disease, which affects your lymphatic system. People are commonly diagnosed under the age of 35 and so inevitably many of them are parents leaving behind young children. The survival rate these days is much better but that is due to the work of charities like Lymphoma Action.
I want to spend the next year raising some money for them in memory of my father. My awesome husband Simon is going to help me. He ran Man vs Coast in July and then we will run the London Marathon together in 2023. We also plan to sell cakes, do a quiz and other things I haven't yet thought up.
Please give what you can afford. I'd love to feel we made a difference.
