I thought by  running this race for the Charity I  was, firstly,  in a meaningful way celebrating  my retirement, secondly celebrating  the lives of those young people who give so freely of their time in volunteer- ing and those whose lives they touch and finally acknowledging and supporting  the work of the Catenian Bursary Fund who encourage our young people to volunteer as volunteering is only 'free' a the point of delivery and there is a cost to the volunteers who deserve our support
