Charles's Canoeing for Crohn's

Charles Rogers is raising money for Crohn’s & Colitis UK

Canoeing for Crohn's · 20 October 2021

We’re the UK’s leading charity for Crohn’s and Colitis. Right now, over 500,000 people in the UK are living with a lifelong disease that many people have never heard of. We’re working to improve diagnosis and treatment; to fund research and to raise awareness.

Story

As some of you may know, I was diagnosed with Crohn's this year. It's been painful, tiring, stressful and sometimes awkward, but I am getting better by the day. With careful eating, drinking and exercise – yes I have had to give up booze! – I have gone from spending 3 months in bed to finally being able to exercise again. To celebrate being fit again, in October, I will be building my own canoe by hand. Then (if it floats) I will be taking that canoe down The Thames, from Thames Head to Hammersmith. A journey of approximately 100 miles paddled in 7 days.

I am raising money for Crohn's & Colitis UK – a charity that has helped provide advice and support along every step of my journey. With the money raised, I hope that they can continue helping others like myself.
