Story
Throughout the coronavirus pandemic the NHS has faced a number of challenges and our staff have been so grateful for the support given freely by our communities.
Towards the end of 2020, Gillian Baker Cresswell and Nikki Brierley , two cottage owners from north
Northumberland, approached Northumbria Healthcare to offer respite breaks for NHS staff who needed rest and recuperation. The first few breaks were so well received by the healthcare staff who were offered the mini breaks, that it was
decided to expand the scheme to include other cottage owners in the Northumbria area, so that more staff could benefit. This is how the idea behind Nightingale Cottages was born.
As part of the respite programme we hope to make the restful experience as comfortable as possible and therefore fundraise to provide a welcome pack of delicious food to make their stay even more special.
We thank all of the Nightingale Cottage group of owners for their generous support of a beautiful holiday destination for our NHS staff. Also, the many individuals who, through their donations, help
us to go that extra mile in providing a food welcome pack for the evening of arrival and breakfast the next morning, to reinforce the deep sense of gratitude and care we have for them.
A huge thank you to all.
