Story
Up to 50 of the finest tractors ever to grace the British
countryside will take to the roads of the North Cotswolds in aid of charity on Sunday 7th May 2017 .
The Bluebell Tractor Run, starting at Downs Farm on the Batsford Estate in Moreton in Marsh and organised by the Moreton Show and North Cotswold Tractor Club, will cover a 50 mile route.
It will make spectacular viewing as some of the historic farming workhorses, with a top speed of 15 mph, roll through the beautiful
Cotswold countryside.
The aim of the exercise is to raise money for Cancer Research.
We want to get on top of this disease and support those who are
working on the drugs to combat cancer. We hope lots of people will come out and support the Bluebell Tractor Run and help in the fight against this terrible disease.
Roy Limbrick, a local farmer from Sherborne, a Council member for Moreton Show, helped organise the first run in 2016 in memory of his wife, Sybil. The 2016 run was enjoyed by everyone who took part and is being repeated on 7th May.
Some of the tractors taking part in the event will be modern, but many others date back to the 1950s while others may be older. They will set off at around 10.30am and follow a route taking in the countryside from Batsford, Cutsdean, Syreford, Soundborough, Hazleton, Notgrove, Swell Hill, Condicote, Hinchwick & Blockley.
Many of the tractors taking part can be seen later in the summer. They will play a major part at Moreton Show, on Saturday 2nd September 2017. Details of the show and where to get your tickets are at www.moretonshow.co.uk
