Story
Either bravely or recklessly, I will be joining 19 like minded industry colleagues in the first annual marketing Tour De France, taking the plunge and cycling a mere 300km from London to Paris with a view of completing the challenge in 24 hours!
The event is taking place on the 12th May setting off at 4pm from the iconic Trafalgar square heading 105km to Newhaven starting by heading towards Surrey. Once past the M25, it follows quiet country lanes, weaving through beautiful English countryside and rolling hills, taking on the North Downs and followed by a climb over the South Downs before enjoying a long descent past Lewes and into Newhaven where the ferry awaits.
After a hearty refuel at the feed stop in Newhaven and the chance to put on more layers on, we board the ferry and find somewhere to rest
for a few hours. The ferry departs from Newhaven, UK at 23:00 and arrives in Dieppe, France four hours later at 04:00am
Arriving in France at 4am, it’s then straight on your bike and making tracks on the 195km towards Paris. Cycling through the night along quiet roads in France. By 4pm, we’ll have hopefully arrived in one
piece at the Eiffel Tower.
I will be riding to raise funds for https://www.sands.org.uk/ who are not only a charity very close to my families heart, but also one of the leading
charities supporting parents who have been affected by the loss of a child.
Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, operates across the UK: supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby; working in partnership with health professionals to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care; and promoting improvements in practice and funding research that could help to reduce the loss of babies’ lives. We depend on the amazing energies of our supporters to raise the vital funds that we need to deliver the wide range of services that we offer. #TeamSands
