Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Myself and my Uncle Gary are walking the 72 miles of the Cumbria Way in 36 hours!
Starting from St. Mary’s Hospice, Ulverston at 8am on Saturday 15th June aiming to reach Eden Valley Hospice, Carlisle by 8pm the following day. We are hoping to keep a good pace to enable us to have a quick 4 hour sleep.
The Walk is intended to raise awareness and much needed funds to support the important services provided by the two Hospices.
Both my Gran, Connie Thompson and also Grandma / Gary's Mum , Edith Rushworth, were cared for at Eden Valley Hospice. My Auntie and Gary's wife Moira Rushworth, who is in the palliative phase of her progressive multiple sclerosis is currently receiving care from the team at St. Mary’s Hospice.
My Uncle Gary undertakes many fundraising walks and completed the Penine Journey on his last venture. It was him that got me interested when he talked about this challenge and the fact it included a wild camp during the walk, he asked for advice.....I therefore maybe daftly agreed to the whole 72 mile challenge!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed these types of challenges back in my fitter days having completed a 24hour walk to the Lancashire border from Carlisle covering 55mile. I have completed a good few training walks in preparation and now anxious to get started and raise some money.
It would be great if you could donate and help me smash the target for the hospice, if you would like to donate to my Uncle Gary for St Mary's Hospice the link is below:
