Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Having completed my 100 mile cycle with my family this summer and having raised over £1000, I am going to continue to take part in challenges over the next 12 months in the hope that I can reach my target of £5,000 for my local RDA group to help others experience the freedom of horse riding.
I am a young lady with a complex profile of additional needs which includes; Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Condition, severe Dyslexia & Dyscalculia & a moderate learning disability (amongst others!).
I have ridden since I was seven years old & reaped huge benefits from it. My concentration on a horse is much improved (if only we could put one in the classroom!), my co-ordination has caught up to my peers from being many years behind & my verbal skills have accelerated beyond belief! One of the biggest impacts it has had is with my self esteem & I continue to benefit as I enter adulthood, with enhancing my independence & communication skills by working at the yard.
Where I ride has recently set up an RDA group, which will allow children & adults with additional needs to have the freedom & fun that I have. Although I haven't ridden with the RDA I am a keen volunteer & know first hand of the life changing therapy it provides to both participants and their care givers.
I would like to help them raise the £5,000 they need to gain independent charity status.
