We support & empower refugees in Scotland to rebuild their lives in safety

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'll be running 26.2 miles in Edinburgh on the 28th of May to raise money for the Scottish Refugee Council, an independent charity who do lots of work to help refugees and asylum seekers in Scotland.

I'm doing this in memory of my grandmother, Susan Singerman, a Hungarian survivor of Auschwitz who found a home in Scotland after enduring the horror and destruction of the Holocaust. She lived a full life in this country, told her story in many schools and fought against intolerance, injustice and racism.

Once again we are living in dangerous times. I hope that by supporting the Scottish Refugee Council, we can show our solidarity with those seeking to rebuild their lives in safety. And I hope that we can show those who wish to close the doors and turn their backs on those in need that we will not stand for it.

About the charity

We are an independent human rights charity dedicated to providing advice, information and assistance to refugees in Scotland. We campaign for a fair and humane asylum system in the UK, and support and promote diverse and welcoming communities across Scotland.
