As some of you may know my wife, Kesiena (Kes), was diagnosed with cancer when she was a teenager. From the age of 13-17 she battled through various treatment types at Alder Hey Hospital and was very fortunate to beat cancer. She has told me many times on how the Teenage Cancer Trust helped both her and her family throughout this time and how much this charity means to her. They made her teenage years feel as "normal" as could be during her treatment, whilst providing an opportunity for Kes to spend time with other teens in a similar situation to her.
I have always wanted to run the London Marathon, and this year I thought what better way, not only to run the London Marathon but to raise money for such a great charity.
The fundraising part is a joint effort from both me and Kes. Over the years Kes has raised a lot of money for other cancer charities but never for the Teenage Cancer Trust, so she was on board from the beginning, helping raise money for a charity that means so much to her.
Anything that you could give no matter how big or small, would be greatly appreciated and will help towards our final goal. We have lots of fundraising ideas in mind for the run up to the main event and every penny will not only spare me on whilst training but will also be very greatly received by the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Thank you all in advance
Alan and Kesiena Bretherton
