Story
Three days, 210 miles, 27 bikes and some very tight Lycra …….. it can only mean one thing?
27 members of the AVD team will be setting off on a grueling challenge that is certain to
push them to their limits. Chafing and sore legs are a definite, but what may
break their bodies certainly won’t break their spirit.
Starting at Edinburgh Castle on Friday 11 May 2018 the team will set off on a grueling 210 Mile, three day challenge. Taking in some of the country’s most beautiful scenery,
the riders will head down the UK’s East coast, completing the challenge at the
Tees barrage on Sunday 13 May where they will be greeted by work colleagues, friends and family and hopefully a nice cold pint.
The riders aren’t just doing this for the fun of it, they want to raise some serious money
for charity. This year we will be channeling funds through the Philanthropic
Foundation to a charity called the Buddy Bag Foundation.
48,000 children require emergency accommodation in the UK each year. Children fleeing violent situations often have to leave home quickly, without a chance to collect basic items. A Buddy bag tries to offer that child some comfort in a time of distress. It contains basic items including toiletries, pajamas, socks and underwear, even including
items such as a book and a teddy to offer that extra bit of comfort.
Any money raised will stay on Teesside and the Buddy Bags made from your donations will go to refuges based in the area.
This is a huge effort made by the AVD team so
let’s get behind them (they may need the push) and raise as much money as
possible.
