Story

5 Brothers

4 Veterans

3 Cap Badges

2 Years in a row

1 Cause

WHO: Five brothers and 4 are veterans of 3 different British Army cap badges (Jonathan RAOC(RLC), Dee 1 Royal Irish Regiment, Al Royal Corps of Signals, James RLC and Rabjoe) take on the Great North Run for the 2nd Year in a row for 1 cause that is close to them all.

WHAT: The Great North Run 2022 because not only is this an Iconic Half Marathon but a family move to the North of England has made huge connections with the North East including many new family and friends in this area. This is also a HISTORIC moment as the first time 5 Brothers have run the GREAT NORTH RUN at the same time.

When: Training, planning and vital fundraising starts now for Great North Run on 11th September 2022.

WHY: Four of us have all served within the British Army with various Operational Tours including The Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan, Northern Ireland, Balkans and have witnessed at first hand some of the issues brought about from service life both personally and within our friends network.

With Issues now becoming more widely recognised and assisting people to recognise these issues by speaking out and asking for assistance, not just suffering in silence.  Charities are doing amazing work in getting the help to those in need.

WWTW supports disadvantaged veterans who have served in the Armed Forces and their families, empowering them to regain their independence, thrive and contribute in our communities. They have adapted and continue to support our ex-services community during this difficult time.Recently having a record number of referrals for mental health not only highlights the sad situation of how many veterans are suffering but shows the amazing work being carried out by the charity.

WWTW has for many years worked in partnership with the NHS and will continue these partnerships to respond wherever possible to support them.

(See the below link for further information on WWTW and their amazing work).
