As many of you know I have had quite a journey the last few years. I have had 4 children in under 3 years my last being my 11 month old twins Alfred and Violet. 

My pregnancy with the twins was very complicated. We had months of anxiety as there were many concerns about them. From 28 weeks I had to go to the hospital daily for monitoring or a scan. At one point I was wrongly told by a doctor that they couldn’t find Violet’s heartbeat and was then made to wait 7 hours for a more detailed scan, it was a terrifying time. I ended up having to have the twins 5 weeks early by general anaesthetic. The twins then had to spend time on the neonatal unit as they were so small and Alfred had developed sepsis. Thankfully after all the stress and worry my amazing twins were okay and were able to come home.

Adjusting to life as a twin Mum has been a rollercoaster! It has been so different to having just one baby at a time. I have never felt such exhaustion as the newborn days with two babies! I have also never felt such love and achievement for making it through long days with all 4 kids on my own. 

The Twins Trust is an amazing charity whose mission is to provide twin families with the information and support they need to enable them to thrive. They do this by conducting vital research and providing training to families. It truly is a charity that is very close to my heart. I have turned to the twins trust website regularly during the past 11 months as they provide the best information and reassurance that what I have felt at times has been completely normal having two babies the same age at once!
