Story
As with all great ideas, this one has its roots firmly in the pub!
We all work together at south-west accountants and business advisors PKF Francis Clark, where we spend most of the day sat firmly at our desks, but this September we are each going well out of our comfort zone and attempting to complete the Weymouth Ironman.
For the uninitiated, the Ironman triathlon is a slightly silly 2.4 mile sea swim, 112 mile bike ride, and full marathon to finish, all to be completed in under 17 hours.
None of us have competed in any kind of triathlon before, so training began almost a year before the event. Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance are a fantastic charity in the local area; I imagine most of us know of someone who has had their life saved by the rapid response, treatment and transfer they provide in emergency situations, and they are reliant on donations to keep operating. If the thought of the pain we will be suffering for the day (and probably weeks afterwards!) isn't enough to loosen your wallet/purse strings, just remember that the next life they save could be yours or one of your family. Even the smallest donations soon add up, so please give generously!
