WELCOME!Hopefully you have come to this page because you or someone you know is involved in taking three fully equipped fire engines to Serbia.
Why?
A great question…
Blythswood Care (
www.blythswood.org), a charity that has been working in Serbia for almost 20 years, received a request for help 6 months ago for fully equipped fire engines and training.
Read about our plans on the Blythswood Care website
here, Edinburgh's Evening News
here, or (would you believe it) the BBC News website
here.
Serbia has a particular problem with Road Traffic Collisions (RTC) with no means to respond. Currently they have a 1950's Russian vehicle with only hand tools for extrication. This results in roadside amputations which, as you can imagine in those conditions, are only marginally better than leaving the person trapped!
We aim to send them three fully kitted fire engines so that they can extricate casualties and dramatically improve their chances of survival. We will provide trauma equipment in order to assist the casualties during the initial stage of their care and provide full trauma training and RTC training utilising qualified instructors for both.
A team has been put together under the umbrella of Blythswood Care. They will leave from Edinburgh in May and drive three fire engines to Serbia. The team is made up of the following people:
• Gary Bennett
• Paul McNiven
• Ken Oakley
• Mike Sinclair
• Pete Clements
• Martin Smith
• Victor Jack
• Stewart Scougall
As a team we would appreciate any help that you can give us, whether financial or otherwise. This site allows you to donate with a credit or debit card and the proceeds will go towards getting these fire engines and the equipment to the people that need them.
This site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to help us as Blythswood will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Thanks
The Team
