Story
I once tried open water swimming and I loathed it. I don't like the idea of creepy water creatures biting my toes and I hate choppy, cold water in my face. So I swore I would never, ever take part in an open-water triathlon.
But then a Twitter pal asked me to join a team of wannabe triathletes taking part in the London Triathlon 2011 for an important cancer charity. She asked if I'd do the triathlon (which includes an open water swim.) I said: "No way!". Just a few hours later (and after some cajoling) I suddenly found myself saying: "Yes, why not?! It's for charity!".
So now I've signed up to do the Olympic distance London Triathlon. That means a 1500m swim in freezing cold Thames water. If I get through that the 24 mile cycle followed by the 10k run will surely be a doddle?! I think not!
It would be fantastic if you could spare some money to sponsor me to take part in this daunting event - and to raise finds for a very worthwhile cancer charity.
