Story
I'm running the Birmingham Half Marathon this year as my friend ran it in 2009 and gave me the challenge to run it and I wanted to raise money for a local but important charity - Cure Leukaemia based at the University of Birmingham where I studied.
I wanted to run for for them as I was inspired by Brummie Chef Glynn Purnell's support for them (top-chef-glynn-purnell-throws-weight-behind-charity) and hope that the money I raise can help to support other fundraising and in making people aware of it's work and providing money for research and the development of treatments.
Over 7000 people a year are affected in the Midlands and Cure Leukaemia aids research and develops new treatments with its support for the Clinical Haematology Centre (known as the Leukaemia Centre, at the University of Birmingham.
The Half Marathon
I never thought i'd ever consider running a half-marathon having never been able to run fast at any distance over 200 metres at school. After the challenges of Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions and working with young people through a Princes Trust group a friend gave me the encouragement to take the challenge. Knowing that I will be fundraising for Cure Leukaemia will give me the motivation to finish and maybe even encourage me to run another half-marathon.
Thank you for your time and please help support me.
