Story

Hi one and all, Stewart from the Mena Men here. After last years entry to the Mongol Rally we have been thinking what can we do this year. we had a wee think and came up with an exciting plan and now it's time to share it with you.
The Mena Men have joined forces with The Men of Girth, another charity rally team, for a little summer adventure.

We are going to attempt to cover the four most extreme points in all of Ireland (north and south) in four days. On 25th August we will set off from Burr Point
in Co Down and make our way to Mizen Head in Co Cork, we will then go over to Dunmore Head in Co Kerry and up the west coast to Malin Head in Donegal, finishing with a little run over to the Mena Men’s home town of Ballymena, in Co Antrim, all in four days.

I’m sure you have figured out by now we will be doing this all in bangers that have been rolled in glitter just for the event and we will be attempting to raise money for our chosen charity Cancer Focus.

Now, this is where itgets exciting for you lovely people. YOU are invited to join us on our trip! This is a very relaxed affair so we are not going to be holding
your hand. We aren’t providing you with accommodation and we aren’t even setting rules on what you drive. We just want help raising money for
the fantastic people at Cancer Focus and for us to have a bita craic and make memories along the way.

You can camp, sleep in the car or stay at the Hilton, we don’t care. We will tell you where the stopover
is each night and give you a wee list of campsites, hotels and hostels in that area. The rest is up to you.

You can take part in any vehicle you want as we understand not everyone can afford to buy and
insure a “banger”. We would rather you came along in your new kia cee’d as not coming at all, and as much as we would love to see a squad of classic, retro or scrap cars and vans heading down the road it’s more important that you’re there. The only rule on transport is that you must display rally plaques and cancer focus stickers on all sides of your steed, and obviously you must be completely road legal including tax and
 mot.

The entry fee is nominal, we ask for a £50 donation per car  irrelevant of how many are in it. This is paid to this Just Giving page to secure your spot on the rally and all that money goes directly to Cancer Focus, we will issue you with fundraising forms so you can try and add to this total.

The rally is open to anyone; this can be a
family event or a group of lads or ladies, Car/motorcycle clubs, campervan clubs… We don’t mind we just want you there! And to try to make it bit easier for you we have picked a bank holiday weekend so you only need to book one day off work. We are even happy for you to to join us for part of the run if that's all you have free.

That’s
just about it guys, this event is going to run irrelevant of the number of cars. The Mena Men and the Men of Girth are going even if nobody else does, we just hope you want to come. It will be a few days of adventure, laughs, amazing views (if you haven’t seen the west coast of Ireland you have not lived) and a few beers (or ice-creams)in the evening. So if you are interested pm the Mena Men Facebook page
. GO ON YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!
