We aim to research and educate to ensure that the Atlantic is fit for life

Story

As many of you know, we are spending our Summer in Tenerife, volunteering for the Atlantic Whale and Dolphin Foundation (www.whalenation.org). A third of all species of whale and dolphin either live in or pass through Canarian water.

Our roles here are to continue the fantastic on-going research into the residential Pilot Whale and Dolphin population that is found around Tenerife, as well as to work with the local community in order to raise awareness as to the importance of conservation. We are also leading on several campaigns including acoustics, captivity awareness, plastic pollution initiatives, canine refuges and recycling education schemes.

We are raising money to support the amazing work that the AWDF are doing around the world, as well as to enable us to deliver incredible campaigns which will educate people and allow us to prevent whales and dolphins being kept in captivity as whale as enable us to add to the global movement that are currently trying to end commercial whaling.

The AWdF is a UK Registered Charity, therefore the work we do can only continue with the support and generous donations from the public.

This project has really opened our eyes, and we are determined to do all we can in order to maintain and improve this research and conservation effort.

Therefore, we have taken it upon ourselves to attempt to summit the world’s third highest active volcano “El Teide” on Friday 17th of August 2019. With all things worthwhile, there are of course risks, but at a guess, the climb should take between 8 and 10 hours, not allowing for ash clouds, eruptions and landslides.

So, we really need your encouragement, but more importantly we need your money.

This is an extremely  worthwhile cause, and every pound we receive will really make a massive difference out here. So we are proposing this - please substitute the cost of one or two takeaway coffees, or the cost of a pint of beer or glass of wine to this cause and you will be saving the lives of these amazing mammals. If everyone we know donates £5 - we can make such an incredible difference!

Obviously if we perish, your money will not be returned, and we will not be able to thank you in person, but your money will still be used wisely and will be making a difference.

So dig deep and donate your pennies, and tell all of your friends about the amazing thing you have done today to help protect incredible species and their habitats for many years to come.
