Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my donations page. Please read on to find out why I’m asking you to make a donation towards this project. Any amount you can spare, however small, will help towards the success of my visit to and the help I can give to those who I’ll be working with.

This July, I’ll be travelling to the Tigray region of Ethiopia with CAFOD. This will be for a period of 6 weeks where I’ll be staying within a community and working in a school in Mekelle. During my trip I’ll be working with street children, mainly boys, helping them gain access to local government schools and restarting their education so they have a better chance of finding employment. I’ll also be helping young women develop their confidence in English so they can find better jobs and avoid less risky occupations that leave them vulnerable. I’ll also be working on creative and sporting activities with the children when we’re not studying. During my stay I’ll also be visiting some of the rural development programmes in nearby areas.

In order to undertake this teaching assignment, I need to raise adequate funds make a contribution towards my travel and lodgings in the community. Additionally, the more resources and equipment I can take with me the better. If I have funds to purchase items and then get them shipped over this will only be of benefit to the children and young people I’ll be living with. The more financial backing I have the more likely this is to happen.

The benefit of making a donation towards this project through this website is that it’s simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: CAFOD will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks in advance – this is once in a lifetime opportunity for me.
