Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The purpose of this page is to help the victims of the Japanese earthquake. The money will be donated to the Red Cross who help with natural disasters around the world. My friends and I will make 1300 origami cranes to honor each person who lost their lives and to help people who still need rescuing. Our deadline is 5th of April, and so far 5 of us are involved. I will update daily, if I can.
Day 1; hit 25 mark, after 2 hours (1 person working), hit 50 mark then 75 mark :D YAY! 100 cranes on the first day!
Day 2; reached 150 mark at 10;15! Pretty good going for day 2 :D An hour later I reached the 175 mark! Death toll has risen to 1700 confirmed and thousands missing, but I have decided it would be impractical to do more than 1300 in the time we have. Finally, reached 200! (that's not including what my friends have done!) I also passed the 225 mark. :D
Day 3; I was at school, so I only managed to make it a little over 250. I'll try and make up for it in day 4.
Day 4; I was ill, so I didn't go to school but I only managed to make it to 300 before I fell asleep.
Day 5; I was still ill, but made it to 350(once again not including what my friends have done, which I know is a considerable amount).
Day 6; I was too tired to make any, because I was still ill but went to school anyway(not a good idea). Thankfully, tomorrow is a weekend so I'll have plenty of time.
Day 7/8; Made it to 550! Not much else to report other than a rising death toll though :(
Day 9; Only made it to 575
Day 10: I would like to give a special thanks to Stefan Fry who posted a tweet about this website and caused a swell in donations! Thank you very much! It's too early in the day to say how many I made. Unfortunately I'm going to Germany on an exchange tomorrow so I won't be able to update for a while but I'll keep folding while there! :D Thank you so much for sponsoring me!
Day 17; I didn't make any while in Germany(I didn't want them crushed in transit) but my friends and I made 125 on the plane, which puts the total at 700! (That's only including the ones I actually have). We also got 2 new recruits to help us :). That means if all my friends come through I'll only have to fold 200-300 more cranes.
Day 21; I'm really happy to have finally reached £1000 worth of fund-raising. I would like to give a very special thanks to The Noodle Bar, St Andrews who are selling my cranes. We got £63 from the customers who donated! Thank you so much! We are well on our way to the end. I only have 150 left to fold. The day after tomorrow is the final day. I will also continue folding cranes in order to sell them so I get even more money for the people in Japan.
5th of April; I have finally finished! I would like to thank everyone for donating. I would also like to thank Morag, Natalia, Fiona, Fiona, Kirsty, my parents, and my sister, Ellen for helping me to cut squares and fold paper! You guys are the best! <3
