During the last week of June 2006 we will be riding our bikes from Lands End to John O'Groats NON STOP to raise money for two disability charities
The team is made up of four employees of South Birmingham Primary Care Trust. We are all keen (but not fanatical) cyclists and all have direct contact with many people with disabilities. The two charities we have chosen to support reflect this
'Contact-a-Family' supporting families of children with disabilities in the UK and
'Buy-a-Bed' supporting a leprosy hospital in Nepal.
What do we mean by non-stop? Well, just that - one of the team will always be on their bike, 24 hours a day, until we have got to John O'Groats! This means riding 2 or 3 hours on the bike, then having 6 off... sleep deprivation and long-term fatigue will probably be the hardest factors (unless it rains for the whole time!).
The route we will take will be at least 1000miles and we will take anything from 3 to 5 days.
As well as rasing money from indivuduals we have already secured some sponsorship from rehabilitation companies related to the work we do and we are anticipating contributions from further companies. All companies contributing will belisted on our
website and will be given as much publicity as we can muster (probably quite a lot).
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure, but is only for Contact -a-Family. However, we shall ensure that all money donated will be split betwen the two charites.
If you use this site to donate and you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor us now!
Many thanks for your support.
