We fund vital innovative biomedical studies to ignite research into ME/CFS

Story

Thank you for visiting my Just Giving page.

Some of you will know that for the last 5 years I have suffered from an invisible chronic illness called Myalgic Encephalomyelitis also known as ME and CFS. ME is a neurological illness that has dramatically changed my life. I spend a lot of my time housebound and sometimes bedbound too. While there is no magic pill to pop for such a horrid debilitating illness, I have not given up hope for finding a cure which is why I am fund raising for ME Research UK.

This year I am joining The Princesses and M.E, a group of M.E patients and supporters that are hoping to raise awareness of M.E and fundraise for the charities that do such a great job in supporting patients and those close to them. On May 12th, M.E awareness day myself and other sufferers will be dressing as Princesses and hoping for a fairy tale.

Our ultimate fairy tale would be finding a cure for this illness that has locked us away from the world. That would be an absolute dream come true. However to do that we need to raise as much awareness as possible, educating everyone about the true nature of this illness and the disabling nature it can have on the lives of sufferers and those closest to them. There are more than 250,000 diagnosed cases in the UK alone. 250,000 lives that have been altered drastically and 250,000 who are waiting for an effective treatment, better consistency of information from health care professionals worldwide and of course the chance of a cure so that we can live normal healthy lives.

You can learn more about The Princesses and M.E on the following blogpost http://howtodealwithme.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/team-princess-2015.html?m=1
This year I am fundraising for ME Research UK. I chose this charity because of the great work they do to support M.E sufferers and raise awareness. They are a voice for the vulnerable in a world of much misunderstanding and prejudice against M.E patients.

As well as dressing as a princess and proudly wearing my crown for a day, I shall be making a few small pieces of original art to sell with all profits donated to ME Re. I will also be blogging about ME within ME awareness week over at my personal blog http://www.emmaslookingglass.com/ to gain more awareness and understanding.

ME Research UK is doing much needed and important biomedical
research so they can find the causes of the illness, improve diagnosis
and treatment, and ultimately, arrive at a cure, but research
is expensive and becoming more so every day which is why supporting this chairty is so important. The more money I can raise the closer to a normal life the princesses and I could be.

Thank you so much for taking time to read this. Donating through Just giving is 100% safe and the money raised goes straight to the charity.

Thank you.
