Story

Good grief. I seem to have run the London Marathon! Who'd have thought it!? Well I didn't really RUN, I jogged like a wimp and went as slowly as possible. But I didn't hit the dreaded wall, I didn't stop (not even for the toilet, Paula...), and all-in-all it wasn't quite as bad as I was expecting it to be. Rather like root canal surgery, don't believe all the horror stories you hear before you go through with it yourself.

Having said that, it was a bit too sunny for my liking, but plenty of drinks on the way round saved me from wilting completely. I can confirm that I overtook 3 cornish pasties, 3 rhinos, 2 Wombles, a pair of giant speakers and a fire engine. Sadly, I could not keep up with the Pink Panther.

Thanks so much to everyone who has made donations to the cause! Thank you, Centra. My money doesn't have to be in to Spinal Research for a few weeks yet so, ummmm, not too late if you haven't clicked the "Sponsor Me Now" button yet....

My official time was 4:45:55, which is quite a nice number I think. I am not walking too well, I feel like I have broken several bones in my left foot, and - at time of going to press - have no desire to ever run a marathon again. Ever. Anywhere. For any reason.

Bring on the triathlon.
