Great Eastern Run 2011 · 9 October 2011 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I'm raising money for Macmillan, because the Macmillan nurses really helped Iris when she was sick.
I hate people asking for sponsorship for things they'd like to do. So when I said I'd help my friend Heather Duncan raise money for her mum Iris when she was diagnosed with cancer, I thought I'd do a run. I hate running. The goal is for me to run the Great Eastern Run, which is a half-marathon (13.1 miles), and it takes place in Peterborough on 9 October.
I needed a motivation to keep me running, so I blogged the training. My blog covers a lot of things that happened over the past few months as well as the training, including the weekend that Iris passed away. If you want to read it at all, you can find it here. It covers a lot of the people who have been helping and supporting me, and special thanks to Sally Pinnegar, who's really helped by planning my whole training, and advising through injuries. She's been brilliant, and I've mainly joked and complained about her in my blog. I didn't mean it!
