Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
I am running the Great West Run in Exeter on Sunday 3rd May 2009 for LIFE LIVE THEN GIVE LIFE, a charity who aim to to save and improve the lives of organ and tissue transplant patients in the UK. They also educate, campaign and publise for people to join the UK organ donation register.
Rach was a great friend who had a strong passion and belief in organ donation, she firmly believed that those able to donate their organ should be on the donation register. Sadly she was taken away from us in January 2008 aged 21yrs following a tragic car accident. Unfortunately her organs were not able to be donated due to the traumatic circumstances.
Millie was my young cousin who was tragically taken from us in January 2002 aged 8yrs due to a car accident only metres from her home. Again, Millie was not able to donate any of her organs, however she was able to donate her corneas.
I will be running the half marathon in memory of Rach and Millie, both beautiful girls who were sadly taken away from us in tragic circumstances at young ages.
Mille was too young to know about much about the organ register. However, Rach who was selfless, determined, and passionate about helping others evident in all parts of her life, would want as many people as possible to put their names on the UK donor register, with the potential of helping someone else after their life.
If you are unable to donate money to LIVE LIFE THEN GIVE LIFE please please consider putting your name on the organ register - you could give LIFE.
You can join the UK organ donation register at https://www.uktransplant.org.uk/ukt/Consent.do?campaign=1160
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Live Life Then Give Life gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you for your support.
