Story

Your donation can help us to buy a bigger bus to get our growing Happy House family on the road ... together.

Transporting our children as a family, which is so important to us because we are a real family, is impossible as we now have so many children , all getting bigger by the day!.

We have a mini-bus, second hand when it was generously bought for us, but it is now far from ideal. The state of the roads (where there are roads) has taken its toll and wear and tear is high.

We are desperate to raise the money, in 2013, for a 32-seater bus which would be big enough for family outings - some are leisure trips, it is important our children get to visit places of interest to understand more of the world around them, but most trips are a necessity.

Taking children to the dentist, hospital and to clinic visits which are numerous, or just to buy new school shoes involves a 25-mile journey each way to the nearest town. Taking children in relays takes a great deal of time out of a day, involves more staff, and is very costly, financially, in fuel and in wear and tear on the vehicle.

A larger bus is needed to enable children from outlying areas to access our school, which is now almost complete thanks to your  help and support.

Our older Happy House children are getting more involved in other external activities. They get free soccer training at Malindi Academy which is 25 miles away, they love it and we have some very good young footballers, but getting them there poses a problem.

We take part in inter-school events, sporting and academic, and we were so proud when our Happy House nursery school pupils won the district final of a spoken verse competition. They beat schools locally in the zone and area heats to reach the district final, which meant transporting them many miles.

You can watch their performance, and the homecoming celebration, via this link:

Participating in these events are so important to any child's development and for  kids in our Happy House family, who have had the worst imaginable start in life, helps to build confidence and self-esteem.

We are showing them how life can, and should, be, setting them challenges, providing opportunity and ensuring that each and every one will be the best that he or she can be.

So please dig deep and donate now.
