This year EGP Cameroon, a team of 6 motivated students, is working in partnership with HAA/CONGEH to provide financial and practical support for the construction of a Trade and Development Centre for the communities of the village of Bamendjin, located in the Western province. With much emphasis on its environmental sustainability through the sourcing of local materials, the centre will provide a place for local farmers to store and sell their products every day and to promote their activities. This idea comes as part of the process of supporting small producers in rural areas to get more value from their farming work. In addition, the centre will be used for social activities devised to help solve the social development problems in the village (the fight against HIV/AIDS, primary health, etc). Our target is subject to fluctuation due to the weakening of the pound and exchange rates, but is currently at £8000! All funds raised are going directly towards the construction costs and materials, and not to the personal costs of the volunteers such as flights, visas, vaccinations, food etc. Donations of any amount will be much much appreciated!!
