We bring people together to build generational change.

Story

At the very heart of the Global exchange programme that I am taking part in is the energy of many 18-22 year olds around the globe who want to play a part in fighting poverty in grass roots communities. By raising funds for VSO it will ensure their ability to continue supporting development in poor countries around the world. The global youth exchange gives young people like myself the chance to get involved in community development for 6 months, 3 months in our home country and another 3 months overseas.

In October i will fly out to Rundu which is in the North of Namibia, along the border of Angola. It is here that our team will be placed with a local partner, The Mehozetu Network of Orphans and other vulnerable children. All children supported by the network are aged between 3 and 7 years old.The overall outcome in this area will be that the children at the kindergartens in the network have an improved capacity to learn and develop and are well prepared to continue to primary school. Most children supported by the network come from a poor background. Parents or caregivers are not always able to provide more than one meal a day. For more information about work that VSO volunteers are already doing here please visit: http://www.fdlux.lu/en/project/mehozetu-project

In the New year our team will then travel back to the UK and work through Crisis skylight Newcastle supporting their  work with the homeless on areas such as education, employment, health and wellbeing. We will also be raising awareness and campaigning.

PERSONAL CHARITY CHALLENGE- CLIMB SNOWDON!!!!!!

Katey Pigden and I have decided to take up the challenge to climb Snowdon for the charity- the highest mountain in Wales at an altitude of 1,085m (3, 560 ft) above sea level and the highest point in the British Isles outside Scotland. All of you who know me well will realise I am not the fittest person, so this REALLY shall be a challenge! So please sponsor us for the charity, your encouragement and support would not go unmissed!

Where will my donation go?

Your donations will go towards supporting the work of GX through International citizen service (ICS) and will enable ICS to continue sending youth volunteers like me, to the developing world to make a lasting difference in disadvantaged and impoverished communities. Every penny counts and all the money I raise will go straight to ICS. So please dig deep! I really need help to reach my target and play my part in fighting poverty through ICS.

JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please help support VSO in ensuring the continuation of their work, which will also allow people like myself who are very passionate about tackling poverty to get involved in community development and help share skills and change lives.

If you'd like to offer your support for the cause and help me reach my personal fundraising target, donate today....Thankyou!!!!! :D
