Acorns supports more than 800 children and over 1,100 families every year. The charity needs to raise £14 million each year to provide its care services across hospices and community settings. Your support means Acorns can continue to be there for local families facing the unimaginable.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Most of you know I like a challenge and this is a biggy. I have to raise £2500.00 for Acorns Childrens Hospice. I have a gold bond guaranteed place for the 2013 London Marathon.

Why Me, why Acorns - Well what a lot of you don't know is that in 1989 I was lucky enough to have a second child (well my wife was) unfortunately she only lived for 3 weeks. Heather and her family would have benefitted greatly from the services of a Hospice. There were NO hospices for Children specifically. Although everyone concerned was helpful we were in the way in Hospital and unsupported at home - not a nice situation to be in.

The work of the Acorns hospices is essential and  this sort of fundraising is essential.
