Story
In the memory of a dear uncle who died recently from prostate cancer, I will be doing a 50km walk against prostate cancer in support of the work of Prostate Action. A UK charity funding researcha and education on prostate cancer. The walk organised by NAS Zero Meridian London, is also to raise awareness on this deadly cancer, among our community. The walk takes place from 28th to 29th May 2011,
WHY: For the sake of our fathers, sons, brothers, husbands and friends we WALK AGAINST PROSTRATE CANCER. Please support this cause. An African proverb says: what affects the nose must also affect the eyes that must weep for it.
"Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK. 37,000 cases are diagnosed each year and it accounts for 10,000 deaths in the United Kingdom each year."
"The highest rates of prostate cancer in the world are recorded in men of African descent...the reason for this...is still unclear. It is thought to be due to both genetic and environmental factors."
The walk will run from South West London to East London. Begining from East Putney(office of Prostate Action) to Wimbledon Park from thence the walk will traverse the Capital Ring, Hertford Union Canal and Regent Canal to Dalston.
