Story
Hi,
As many of you know, last year I hosted a golf day in aid of compton hospice, a local organisation which offers all levels of amazing support for life limiting illnesses. The day was inspired by my sister who had been battling cancer for some years.
At easter this year, we received some devastating news; the cancer had spread to her liver. What we didn't fully realise is that my beloved sister Jannine only had weeks to live. On Tuesday 24th April, less than 3 weeks later she tragically lost her 3 year battle. This was a fight she bore with immense courage and without a trace of self pity. She was brave until the very end and if there was any blessing in such a painful time it was that her final few days were made more bearable by the incredible, sensitive care she was given by all at Compton hospice.
What they offered her (and indeed us) was something money cannot buy; comfort, warmth, and a sense of absolute calm.
A wonderful mum, a most treasured daughter and sister, a loved sister in law, aunty, and not least of all, a great friend, jannine's passing broke many hearts, and her absence is felt by us all.
As most of you know, the 2nd golf day was postponed at this very difficult time but I made a vow to her in the weeks that led up to her leaving us that I would do whatever I could to raise money in her honour and in support of Compton.
So As my promise to her and in her memory, the golf day has been rescheduled for Thursday 6th September.
I appreciate many of you have donated kindly already, and I hope those of you who planned to come in may will be able to join me in September.
Compton hospice relies heavily on charity so if you can spare anything, please know it will make a difference.
6th September will be for Jannine, so please help me do her proud by supporting Compton however you can.
I look forward to seeing you all and celebrating her life.
Thank you
Carl
