Story
At 10:53am on Tuesday 18th September 2012 Police Constables 14846 Nicola Hughes and 12601 Fiona Bone went to what they thought was a "routine incident" in Manchester. Something that I can relate to and understand.
Like me, both were doing a job they both loved. They will have had the usual dreams and aspirations that people our age would have. They would have been looking forward to that evening, that week, that year and the rest of their lives. However, this was robbed from them by the actions of one person who had callously lured them to an address under false pretences and took the lives of these lovely young girls in a cowardly grenade and gun attack.
No one should go to work, to do a job they love - and do it as best as they can - and not come home to their loved ones. It shouldn't even have to be considered.
As a serving Police Officer in neighbouring Merseyside, I want to show my support to both Nicola and Fiona, their families and their colleagues and for the charity that has been set up in Nicola's memory. I proudly stand shoulder-to-shoulder with numerous other colleagues throughout the UK in support as we attempt to run and conquer 250 miles before 4th April 2014.
That’s 9.5 marathons in distance or an equivalent of 2 miles every single day.
Surely this commitment and desire is worth a couple of pounds of your hard earned money? Please donate generously, and use Gift Aid so that the government adds 25% for FREE!!
