Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I STUPIDLY ran the Great North 10K (thats 6miles in old money) for Diabetes UK. I ran in 1hr 11mins and 7secs and came 2060th (out of 4600 so not too bad) and was completely shattered but determined to finish it. I even managed a smile and a sprint over the finish line. So far with the help of some lovely people we have raised over £200, but feel free to continue to donate....its a charity very close to my heart.

My grandad suffered from this and my dad has not long been diagnosed. Although it can be regulated, for many people it can be a nightmare just day to day. It doesn't just mean you cant eat sweets. Diabetes if uncontrolled can lead to blindness, liver & kidney failure, gangrene, loss of feeling in your limbs, amputation, diabetic coma and even death. People with diabetes to not heal as well, they are more proned to infections and on average it shortens your lifespan by 15 years.

I want the people I care about to have those extra 15 years. Also with my family history.....I'm high risk and I want to be around for an extra 15 years. Help them find a cure and help the sufferers manage this disease.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Diabetes UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
