Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have just completed my trek up Mount Kenya, to raise money for The Buxton Mountain Rescue Team. The trip took a total of five days. We made it to the summit on 13th September 2009, on the forth day of our trek at 6.15am (local time) after a 2.00am start.
The walk took us through alpine terrain at the base to the snowy peaks and glaciers, reaching 4985m.
I have never followed in my father’s footsteps with his head for heights, being a climber. Instead I did quite the opposite and became a scuba diver. So I decided to ditch the scuba gear (for a while anyway) for a pair of Brasher boots and woolly hat to raise money for the Buxton Mountain Rescue Team.
Despite my dislike for heights growing up around north Derbyshire and being the daughter of a climber, walking in the Peaks was always a favoured weekend afternoon activity and still is. From climbing to walking in the Peaks rescue teams like the Buxton team help should something go wrong. Being totally dependent on donations from the public I would like to raise as much money as I can to fund some of the £30,000 per annum it takes to maintain the invaluable service they provide.
