In September 2012 we walked 50 miles through the Carpatian Mountains in Romania to raise funds for a Bear Sanctuary in Romania. The Sanctuary is home to 52 bears who have been rescued from extreme cruelty in rusty cages, and illegal zoos. The bears now have room to roam in forested enclosures and are free to live out the rest of their life happily doing what bears do naturally.

We did this trek in 2011 and were both so moved and impressed with the work of the Sanctuary that we decided that we wanted to do it all over again. Walking does not come naturally to us, but we both feel we have to do it for the bears.
