Story
My name is David Bryan. I am 26 and live in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.
Beginning on the 4th of August 2008, I am planning to trek the entire GR11 trail across the Spanish Pyrenees, from Irun on the Atlantic coast to Cap de Creus on the Mediterranean. The trek will take me 44 days and cover a distance of around 450 miles.
I am doing this trek to raise awareness of the depletion of oil and to raise money for the charity Sustrans www.sustrans.com who aim to get people walking and cycling instead of driving and find solutions to unsustainable forms of transport, by building cycle routes, promoting walking and cycling to work and school, connecting cycle routes across Britain to create a cycling network and putting pressure on local counsels and the government to help reduce our reliance on oil.
I will be keeping a progress report on my preparation for the trek at www.davidbryanpyrenees.blogspot.com and here on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=13319332898
If anybody is interested in helping to support my cause, please feel free to donate, even just a little can make a big difference, especially as my employer's Atos Healthcare have agreed to match and sponsorship I raise up to £200 as well as the gift aid supplement.
Although I planned to do the walk alone, if anyone else is interested in coming out to do a section of the walk with me, please get in touch through the blog or facebook links and we can arrange something.
