Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
To mark my recent retirement from lecturing at University of West of England, Bristol I have decided to plan, design and perform a "Green Charity Challenge" trip from Bristol to the Scilly Islands by cycle and ferry and back by sleeper train to Bristol (via London). To check out the viability of the trip, I shall be doing it between October 23rd and 28th this year 2008 - see blog http://www.green-charity-challenge.org/ (currently under construction) and temporarily http://green-charity-challenge.blogspot.com . October 28th is when I am launching this fundraising, which will be open for 9 months to June 2009.
Cancer research including the work of Cancer Research UK has given me the prospect of a happy retirement with my wife. Diana was diagnosed with leukemia last year but thanks to recent research-based medical advances is symptom free and the leukemia is completely neutralised/suppressed.
Now is the time to give something back by fundraising. You can donate directly here and/or use the route details which I shall be making available on the blog to do it yourself in whole or part by cycle (probably much faster than me), as a relay, just by train or even walking it!
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
