Story
I shall be taking part in my second international project with The Bobby Moore Fund in Namibia in June 2011. I need to raise at least £4000 and can only get there with your help.
Along with a group of volunteers, I shall be travelling to The Tubusis settlement in the Damaraland region of Namibia, on the edge of the vast Namib Desert.
Tubusis Primary School has approximately 275 pupils, from pre-primary school age to grade seven.
The school consists of 8 classrooms, plus a pre-primary rooms and a library. Although the school buildings are in reasonably good shape structurally, they are in need of general need of repairs to walls, paint work, doors and locks, ceilings and windows.
The building that houses the pre-primary room and the library stands separately to the rest of the school, and is in a really bad condition. This requires general repairs; the installation of new floors and proper furniture; the conversion of part of the library into a computer room; and the provision of books to stock the library.
The school has sufficient suitable land for a football field, or another sports facility.
Funds raised through the project will remain in the UK, helping to support the work of the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK in their research into treating and finding a cure for bowel cancer.
